Avocados were 10/$10 at Shoppers the other day, so I bought a bag! We're halfway through them, I may have to buy more.

Ha, it's probably the gardening that made you sore! Lately I've been getting multi-day flareups on one side of my back, from the SI to my neck. I've had one in the past week, and it was gone in 24 hours. My hands and right ankle are still not great though, but I think that with time it'll probably get better.

I'm totally digging roasted beets lately. I can't do sweet potatoes for a few more weeks, and the husband gets sick when he eats brassicas, so we've been chowing down on dill cucumber salad, sauteed mushrooms, and lots of salad. Of course, I love the leafy greens cooked the same way so I have those for lunch.

The energy level is great! I hated the sugar crash in the middle of practice or class. It really makes it hard to concentrate.

Glad to hear about the flare ups! I can't tell if it's the weather shifts (they affect the joints in my hands), the pizza I ate last night (Justin "cooked") or Kallisti practice with swords last night, but I'm feeling sore today. Now, for me Saturday's work out was 4 hours of gardening, which involved hauling mulch, mowing, pounding in edging and so on. Much more fun than the gym!

My veggie eating is pretty basic lately: steamed sweet potatoes or beets, greens cooked in bacon grease or coconut oil, steamed broccoli or cauliflower with butter (maybe mashed cauliflower, you can add cheese or nutritional yeast if you're eating those). Blanched brussels sprouts that I then sauté with some balsamic vinegar. Oh, I grilled some asparagus Sunday, yum! You can also grill cabbage, that's delicious. Braised cabbage with butter, or pepper and some mustard, or a non-creamy coleslaw or cortido. Steamed, sauteed or raw kale as a salad. I only have time to really cook on the weekends, so everything else has to be super easy.

Dance wise I like that I can make it through class or practice after work and not be crazy starving by the time I'm done. Also the even energy level is awesome!

I'd definitely like to know how this works for you. For me, I have some achy joints today. It is because I ate drank some beers last night? Or because I stayed out late at a show, stood on my feet, danced and didn't get enough sleep? I'm not conducting a very precise experiment.

You know, I'm trying to figure that out, and that is one of the reasons that I'm trying this too. I *think* so, but right now it's a little too early to tell. A week ago it was stiff up to my neck, and today it just hurts in my SI joint. I think that's progress, but it's hard to tell if it's due to the diet or if I'm having a flareup die down. I usually have a flareup once every couple weeks, so we'll see if it stays gone.

Have you found that this is affecting your arthritis at all? I've been thinking that my knees and hands feel better the days I'm grain free, but I can't tell if that's it because the days I don't eat carefully are the days I tend to not get enough sleep, be working at the cafe, and so on. Those are things that can also make me feel not so hot.

Love it! I love the "tribal updo" look, though I'm pretty terrible at pulling it off. The only fancy thing I've ever really done with my hair is dye it. Yes, let hair be expressive and free!
